Hello and welcome to St. Luke’s Gallery. This site has been developed to share and encourage a greater appreciation for sacred artwork. By “sacred artwork,” this can be defined as artwork, of an appropriate medium, that is:
- Dedicated or set apart for the service or worship of a deity. In this case, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost.
- Worthy of religious veneration and entitled to reverence and respect.
- Of or relating to the Catholic Faith, not secular or profane.
Posts on this website will provide commentary on singular works of art (i.e. a particular painting or icon) as well as broader subjects (i.e. the depiction of angels) but all content will be within the context of the Roman and Byzantine Catholic Faith.
