Hello and welcome to St. Luke’s Gallery. This site has been developed to share and encourage a greater appreciation for sacred artwork. By “sacred artwork,” this can be defined as artwork, of an appropriate medium, that is:

  1. Dedicated or set apart for the service or worship of a deity. In this case, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost.
  2. Worthy of religious veneration and entitled to reverence and respect.
  3. Of or relating to the Catholic Faith, not secular or profane.

Posts on this website will provide commentary on singular works of art (i.e. a particular painting or icon) as well as broader subjects (i.e. the depiction of angels) but all content will be within the context of the Roman and Byzantine Catholic Faith.
